February 08, 2016
The Center for International and Security Studies at Maryland (CISSM) was named one of the top 50 academic think tanks in the world in the 2015 Global Go To Think Tank Index Ranking. The ranking presents the collective judgment of 4,677 think tank researchers, journalists, policy makers, and philanthropists from more than 140 countries, as well as the Index’s panel of experts. In announcing the 9th annual index, the director of the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program at the University of Pennsylvania James McGann acknowledged the “important contributions” that think tanks make worldwide. “Our objective has been to gain a better understanding of the role that think tanks play in governments and civil societies. Using this knowledge we hope to enhance the quality, capacity, and performance of think tanks around the world.” “CISSM is honored to be included in this index and among so many of our outstanding peers in the academic think tank community,” says CISSM Interim Director Nancy Gallagher.
