XRL-resized.jpgXiaorong Li is a scholar and human rights activist, who has co-founded and served on the board of international organizations promoting human rights in China, and a co-editor of “Charter 08,” a collection of essays by Charter 08 signers and supporters. She received a PhD in philosophy at Stanford University and was on the faculty at the Institute for Philosophy and Public Policy at the University of Maryland. She published on a wide range of subjects including democratization and human rights. She is the author of the book Ethic, Human Rights and Culture. Li’s academic work has been supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the MacArthur Foundation, the US Institute of Peace, and the Institute for Advanced Studies at Princeton.
