Gokul Iyer is a second-year PhD student at the University of Maryland''s School of Public Policy, specializing in Environmental Policy. Gokul has worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the School of Public Policy and the Joint Global Change Research Institute on projects such as benefit-cost analysis of Indian passenger vehicles and diffusion of low-carbon technologies using integrated assessment models. At CISSM, he will be looking at the risks associated with a large-scale global expansion of nuclear energy in an effort to mitigate climate change. Gokul holds a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, India and a Master of Technology in Energy Systems Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India.
