U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) Town Hall: Nigeria

Back to All Events

In this town hall event, CISSM will host speakers from the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) to discuss the challenging realities of religious freedom in Nigeria. Previous USCIRF reporting chronicles the Nigerian government's difficulties in deterring and responding to attacks on Christians and Muslims and state restrictions on indigenous religious practices.

USCIRF is an independent, bipartisan legislative branch agency created by the 1998 International Religious Freedom Act. It monitors the universal right to freedom of religion or belief abroad; makes policy recommendations to the President, Secretary of State, and Congress; and tracks the implementation of these recommendations.
