Tyler Kustra

Tyler Kustra is an assistant clinical professor at the School of Public Policy, where he teaches courses on economics and statistics. He is also a research fellow at the Center for International and Security Studies at Maryland. Kustra’s research focuses on economic sanctions and political violence and has been published in International Studies Quarterly, the Journal of Conflict Resolution and the Journal of Peace Research. He has been interviewed as an expert on economic sanctions by the Associated Press, the BBC, Bloomberg, CNN and The Washington Post. Before joining the University of Maryland, Kustra held positions at Harvard University and Duke University. He also served as an economic adviser to the Parliament of Canada. 

Kustra holds an M.A. in economics from Queen’s University and a Ph.D. in politics from New York University.
